On the night of July 15, 1812, British Captain Charles Roberts lands his armed schooner, Caledonia, along with seventy war canoe and ten bateaux along the north shore of the island of Michilimackinac. The prize: Fort Mackinac and control of the fur trade on the northern Great Lakes. American Commander Porter Hanks does not know that war has been declared, but the first conflict in the War of 1812 is upon him. American citizens and soldiers are faced with an ultimate test of allegiance, the Crown or the Stars and Stripes.
